Mama Moss and Her Kittens
September 28, 2020
The story of our newest litter in Sept 2020: “At the end of August 2020, my brother was doing some work in our garage when he heard a rustling from a box of sailing ropes. He investigated, expecting to find an opossum or a squirrel, but instead he saw three little kitty faces staring back at him! He called me over and we carefully moved the box and found that a mama cat had given birth to FIVE babies in our garage and had been raising them out there for about four weeks! We waited, worried that something bad had happened to their mom, but luckily she came back later that night. We gave them food, water, and a place to sleep until mama cat trusted us enough to bring her and her babies into our home.
They were the sweetest little things right from the get go– no hissing or hiding from anyone. Mom cat let us play with her babies, snuggle her, and bring the little family into our lives. They’ve been a delight to have around since! They all like dogs and other cats and love to be snuggled and played with. In a perfect world, we would keep all five babies and mama, but that’s just not possible.
Thanks to the amazing help from Community Cats of Benzie County, we were able to get everyone checked out, fixed, dewormed, and vaccinated and now it’s time to find them their FUREVER homes! As sad as it makes me to think of saying goodbye to these sweet little faces and darling personalities, I know that they’ll bring nothing but joy into your life and that makes me very happy. Mama did a good job when she picked our garage for a nursery! We fell in love and we know you will too.”
