Meet Zipper & Tumbleweed
November 30, 2021
Meet Zipper & Tumbleweed! Zipper and Tumbleweed are siblings that now enjoy the good life as indoor cats thanks to Community Cats of Benzie County. With a donation from you today, CCBC will be able to help more kittens and cats like Zipper and Tumbleweed! Community Cats of Benzie County is an all-volunteer organization that depends on donations from animal lovers like you. Since 2016, Community Cats of Benzie County and their volunteers have directly saved or improved the lives of over 2,300 cats and kittens through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), kitten rescue and adoptions. Just this past year, they have so far placed 119 kittens and cats in loving homes, and TNR’ed 171 (and counting!) to help control the feral population in a humane way. Zipper and Tumbleweed were among the lucky ones, being trapped with their littermates and parents in Thompsonville. Unfortunately, their parents were too feral to re-home, but they were neutered, given immunizations and re-released into their community. With the help of a local volunteer, the Thompsonville colony is fed and monitored for sick and injured cats. Since the adults have been neutered, the colony size will stay stable, eliminating the issue of an exploding feral cat population. One female cat has the ability to produce roughly 100 kittens in seven years! Meanwhile, Zipper and Tumbleweed, at two months of age, were also neutered, and immunized. Then they were fostered by another volunteer, who socialized them until they were ready to be adopted into a forever home. They now will live full, healthy lives bringing joy to their new household. Please help us save more kittens like Zipper and Tumbleweed with a generous donation to Community Cats of Benzie County. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, 100% of your donation goes to helping the cats in our community! Thank you and Happy Holidays, Carol McKee Founder of Community Cats of Benzie County |
